William King Sustaining Patron

An advocate who had the vision for an independent Maine, William King led the effort to gain Maine's independence from Massachusetts. In 1820, he became first Governor of Maine. He led a distinguished career in public service into his 90s.

Fly Rod Crosby Sustaining Patron

Living life on her own terms until the age of 92, Fly Rod was the first registered Maine Guide. In addition to being a hunting and fishing guide in Rangeley, she wrote a popular column that appeared in newspapers around the country, attracting thousands of tourists.

Chester Greenwood Sustaining Patron

Chester invented many useful things, including the wide bottom kettle, spring steel rake, shock absorbers that were the pre-cursors to today's airplane landing gear, wheel bearings and, of course, ear muffs, which he designed at the age of 15 and made until his death at 79.
